Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox, age 37, was killed in the line of duty on January 5, 2010 in Delta, Utah. Josie was born September 17, 1972 in Delta to Russell and Cindy Greathouse. Josie was our bright and shining star. We will cherish our short time with her. Our memories of her will always put a smile on our face. When she walked in the room “the party started.”
Josie grew up on a farm in Lynndyl which she loved. Her favorite job on the farm was working the cattle. She married Jeff Winn. They later divorced. In 2005, her childhood dream came true when she graduated form the Police Academy and was hired by Sheriff Ed Philips of the Millard Co. Police Dept. She loved her job and gave it her all. On January 18, 2007, Josie married Doug Brian Fox, who she often introduced as “the perfect man.”
Josie is survived by her husband: Doug; son: Spencer; daughter: Hunter, of Delta; step-children: Brian Fox; Katrina Fox, Grand Junction; parents: Russell & Cindy Greathouse, Lynndyl; brother: Ryan Greathouse. Leamington; sister: Sandi Greathouse Ables, Delta; brother: Fred (Chasie) Greathouse, Delta; grandmother: Betty Carter, Delta; nieces & nephews that adored “Aunt Jo Jo.” Parents-in-law: Deroy & Evelyn Fox, Mesquite, NV; brother-in-law: Rod (Lynette) Fox, McClusky, ND; sister-in-law: Debbie (Lance) Johnson, Cedar City.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, at 11:00 AM, at the Delta LDS Stake Center Chapel, 145 S. White Sage Ave. Friends may call Sunday evening, 6-8 PM, at the Millard County Fair Building in Delta, and Monday morning at the church, 9:30-10:40 AM. Burial will be in the Delta Cemetery under the direction of Nickle Mortuary.
